The Senate of Colombia
It approved a bill on Wednesday that legalizes the use and cultivation
marijuana for medical purposes, which is the fourth in Latin America
country to loosen its marijuana laws.
The bill, which must still be approved by the Constitutional Court
and signed by President Juan Manuel Santos, will replace an existing
decree issued by the president in December.
The bill was
promoted by Senator Juan Manuel Galan, who said in his Twitter account
that he considered it a “historic day” and a victory for patients.
